Lab Manager

The Visual Cognition Lab is looking to hire a Lab Manager. Reporting to the Lab Director Dr. Ronald Rensink, you will provide leadership and strategic support in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the daily operations in a way that supports the goals and values of the lab.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Promote an environment that fosters teamwork, continuous improvement, and respect
    • Motivate and develop members
    • Resolve conflicts within the lab
  • Plan and implement weekly general meetings
  • Maintain administrative duties which may include but are not limited to:
    • Member meetings to evaluate the needs of the ongoing projects
    • Website maintenance
    • Public Relations (advertisement/public outreach)
    • Recruitment
    • Room bookings
    • Facilitating lab social engagements
    • Ensuring safety protocols are being met
    • Maintaining records of lab members and finances

Qualifications:

  • High levels of organization and punctuality
  • Ability to plan ahead and to think quickly in situations requiring adaptability
  • Ability to resolve conflict
  • Capable of dealing with sensitive topics and ensuring confidentiality of persons and data
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Creative and open-minded individual with strong work ethic
  • Having a background involved in research with knowledge of Cognitive Systems, Psychology, or Computer Science is an asset
